To verify your business, you need your business type, legal name, tax ID, address, annual revenue, number of workers and the date your fiscal year ends. Companies and partnerships also give details for the Account Representative, the person who controls the business, and list anyone who owns 25% or more. Have these ready before you start.

Pick your federal tax classification first. The rest of the form changes with it.

What every business gives

| DBA Name / Trading Name | Optional |
| Tax ID | EIN for partnerships, LLCs and corporations. SSN for individuals and sole proprietors. Nine digits. |
| Address | Your business address. You can add a separate mailing address. |
| Phone Number | Optional |

Sole proprietors, partnerships, LLCs and corporations also pick an Industry and can add a Website. Individuals and sole proprietors add their date of birth and type their full name as a signature.
The Account Representative
Partnerships, LLCs and corporations fill in an "Account Representative Information" section. This is the person who controls the business. We ask for their:
- First and last name
- Title, such as CEO or CFO
- Date of birth
- Home address
- Social Security number
The SSN is used to verify them. If anything else is needed, we'll ask for it after your account is set up.
Beneficial owners
After you send your business details, partnerships, LLCs and corporations are asked: "Are there any beneficial owners with 25% or more ownership?" If the answer is yes, add each owner with Add Beneficial Owner. For each one, we ask for their name, title, ownership percent (25 to 100), email, phone number, date of birth, home address, and an SSN or passport number.
You then tick a box to confirm the information is complete and correct.
Where to see your verification status
Go to Settings, then Verification. Only admins can see this page. It shows one of these:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not started | We don't have your business details yet. |
| Under review | We have your details. Most reviews clear within minutes. Nothing is needed from you. |
| Action required | We need something else from you. It's listed under "Outstanding items". |
| Suspended | Verification is paused. Contact support. |
| Verified | Your business is verified. |
The banner at the top of your dashboard also shows where you are, for example "We're verifying your business. Payments turn on once that's done."
If we need a document
Sometimes the review asks for a document. It shows up on the Verification page marked "Document needed", with an Upload document button. You can upload a JPEG, JPG, PNG or PDF up to 10MB.
If verification comes back asking for more, see Why did my business verification fail? For anything else, email support@cleo-pay.com with your business name.
