Sign up at app.cleo-pay.com, create a full business account and pick a plan. Then a short setup walks you through your business name, your business details, your owners, your email, your bank and your team. Only the business name is required to get in. You can skip the rest and finish it later from the dashboard.
Before setup starts
- Create your login at app.cleo-pay.com.
- When we ask "What brings you to Cleo?", choose Pay my vendors.
- In "Create a business", choose Full business account.
- On "Choose your plan", pick Starter, Growth or Max and finish checkout. See Plans, seats and included payments.
After checkout you land in the setup steps.
The setup steps
The steps are listed down the side of the page, so you can see where you are.
| Step | What it asks for | Can you skip it? |
|---|---|---|
| Business name | The name you want to use in Cleo Pay, and agreement to the terms | No |
| Business details | Your business type, tax ID, address and a few facts about the business | Yes |
| Beneficial owners | Anyone who owns 25% or more of the business | Yes |
| A business email for notices | Yes | |
| Bank account | The bank you'll pay from | Yes |
| Team | Invites for the people you work with | Yes |
Beneficial owners and Team don't appear if you chose Individual or Sole Proprietorship as your business type. Beneficial owners only appears after you've sent your business details.
Business name
Type the name under Business name, tick the box to agree to the terms and click Continue. This creates your business. You can add the rest later, before you send or receive payments.
Business details
First you'll see "Set up your business details now or later?". Click Set up now to fill them in, or Later, take me to the dashboard to look around first.
The form asks for your federal tax classification, legal name, tax ID, address, annual revenue, number of workers and when your fiscal year ends. Companies and partnerships also add details about the Account Representative, the person who controls the business. The full list is in What you need to verify your business.
When you click Continue, a review screen opens. Check everything, because a mistake here can slow down verification. Click Confirm & Submit to send it, or Go Back & Edit to fix something.
If you click Skip for now on this step, setup ends and you go to the dashboard. The later steps wait until you come back.
Beneficial owners
Answer "Are there any beneficial owners with 25% or more ownership?". If yes, click Add Beneficial Owner for each one. Tick the box to confirm the information is complete and correct, then click Submit and Continue.
Enter your business email and click Continue. If it's the same address you sign in with, it's confirmed right away. If not, we email you a 6-digit code to type in.
Bank account
Click Add Bank Account, agree to the ACH debit authorization and sign in to your bank in the window that opens. Your bank login goes to the bank, not to Cleo Pay.
Bank linking opens up once your business is verified. If you see "Bank connections open up once you're verified", click Skip for now and connect your bank later from Settings, then Bank Accounts.
Team
Enter a teammate's email, pick a role and click Send Invite. Do this for each person, then click Continue. See Invite your team and choose roles.
When setup is done
Cleo Pay takes you to your dashboard. Every new account starts with payments turned off. You'll see a banner at the top that tells you what's left: finishing setup, waiting while we verify your business, or booking a quick call with our team to turn payments on. See Why are payments turned off?
If you see a "Congratulations!" screen with "One last step: turn on payments", click Book a call to pick a time.
Finishing steps you skipped
You'll see "Finish your setup to start sending and receiving payments." on the dashboard. Click Finish setup to go back to the first step that still needs something. Only admins can do this. Everyone else sees "Ask an admin to finish setup".
If you get stuck, email support@cleo-pay.com with your business name and the step you're on.
