# How to connect your bank account

> An admin connects the bank you pay from in Settings, then Bank Accounts. Tick the ACH debit authorization, click Connect bank account and sign in to your bank. Your business has to be verified first.

To pay vendors from your bank, an admin connects it in **Settings**, then **Bank Accounts**. Tick the ACH debit authorization, click **Connect bank account** and sign in to your bank in the window that opens. The connection runs through Stripe Financial Connections, and Cleo never sees your bank login.

## Before you start

- You need to be an admin. Anyone else sees "An account admin on your team can connect the bank you pay from."
- Your business needs to be verified. Until it is, the page shows "Available once Stripe has verified your business". If you try anyway, you'll see "Bank connections switch on once your business is verified. Finish the outstanding items under Settings, then Verification."

## How to connect

1. Sign in at app.cleo-pay.com.
2. Click **Settings**, then **Bank Accounts**. If no bank is connected yet, you'll see "No bank pays from yet. Connect one to send payments from this business."
3. Read the ACH debit authorization and tick **I authorize the debits described above.**
4. Click **Connect bank account**.
5. Sign in to your bank in the window that opens and pick the account you want to pay from.
6. You'll see "Bank account connected", and the bank shows **Pays from** in the list.

Every admin on the account also gets an email with the subject "[Your business]: A bank account has been linked to your Cleo Pay account".

When you link a bank this way, you also share its balance and transactions, so Cleo Pay can check funds before a payment and match payments for your books.

## Connecting during setup

The "Connect a bank account" step in setup works the same way. Tick the authorization and click **Add Bank Account**. If you're not ready, click **Skip for now** and connect it later from Settings.

If your business isn't verified yet, the step shows "Bank connections open up once you're verified". Skip it and come back once verification is done.

## What "Pays from" and "Receives payments" mean

Each bank in the list has up to two roles.

| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pays from | Cleo Pay pulls from this bank when you pay from your linked bank or add money to your balance. Only one bank pays from at a time. |
| Receives payments | Money people pay you through Cleo Pay lands here. This can be a bank or your Cleo Pay balance. |

One bank can have both roles.

## Change the bank you pay from

1. In **Settings**, then **Bank Accounts**, click the three-dot menu on the bank marked Pays from.
2. Click **Pay from a different bank**.
3. Tick the authorization and click **Authorise and connect bank**.
4. Sign in to the new bank.

To stop using a bank without picking a new one, choose **Stop paying from this account** instead. Payments already on their way aren't affected, but you'll need to connect a bank before you pay from one again.

## Add another bank

Click **Add bank account**. You can pick **Connect instantly** and sign in to your bank, or **Enter bank details** and type the routing and account numbers. A bank you type in has to pass a micro-deposit check before it can pay from Cleo Pay. See [How to verify a bank with micro-deposits](https://cleo-pay.com/help/verify-a-bank-with-micro-deposits).

## If it doesn't work

See [Why won't my bank connect?](https://cleo-pay.com/help/why-wont-my-bank-connect) for the messages you might see and what to do. If you're still stuck, email support@cleo-pay.com with your bank's name and the exact message on screen.
